required to guarantee a reservation. The deposit will be charged at the time of the reservation. CANCELLATION CHARGES- CAMPERS & TENTS- Notify KOA by 4pm at least 48 hours prior to scheduled arrival. KABINS- Notify KOA by 4pm at least seven days prior to scheduled arrival. LODGES and KOTTAGES – Notify KOA by 4pm at least two weeks prior to scheduled arrival. HOLIDAYS INCLUDE: Memorial Day Weekend, 4th of July Weekend, Labor Day Weekend & Columbus Day Weekend.

Solar Lodge
KOA Solar 1
On May 3, 2010, The Herkimer Diamond, New York KOA Kampground became the world’s first campground with a 100% off-the-power-grid, solar powered camping lodge.
With solar panels on its roof harnessing energy and a prototype propane backup generator, the new KOA Solar 1 Lodge is able to run completely independent of outside energy sources. The generator “kicks in” to recharge power batteries during cloudy weather.
Built by one of KOA’s preferred suppliers, Cavco Industries, the Lodge features Generac’s industry-first propane generator, which backs up a system of solar panels made by Solar-max, a leader in solar technology.
The Solar 1 Lodge is packed with “green” technology and products, right down to its recycled metal roof and pulverized glass landscaping. Even the bed pillows are made from fiberfill from recycled plastic bottles.
The “green” theme continues outside, with deck furniture fabricated from recycled plastic milk jugs, and an organic garden that guests can harvest their own vegetables during their stay. read more

Take in all of the sights and activities that the Herkimer area has to offer by day. Return for a peaceful night in the comfort of a cozy log kabin.
Kamping in a Kabin is both easy and economical. All that is needed is bedding (sleeping bags or bed linens), cooking utensils and personal items: it's like tenting without a tent. If anything is forgotten, our KOA convenient store stocks most anything a kamper might need. We also have amenity bags equipped with linens for your pleasure and use.
Sleeps up to four people comfortably. Reservations are recommended.

Our Prospector’s Pavilion
At the KOA. Only available to guests at the KOA. Our Prospector’s Pavilion is open on Friday and Saturday nights and Sunday mornings. We offer pizza and fish fry on Friday (free delivery to sites). Ice cream social on Saturday evenings and a Pancake breakfast on Sunday.

Off-site Restaurant. A short 6 miles drive to the Erie Canal. All the food at the Waterfront Grille is made from scratch using only the finest quality ingredients.
